The Renault Megane Rally Cross Championship car project was developed and built by Prodrive for the GCK team and driver Guerlain Chicherit. The British motorsport consulting firm has a rich history in developing victorious rally cars and running WRC race teams such as the one backed by Mini and Subaru. Drive were invited to style the aero and regulation defined body panels for the Megane RX, and deliver the finalised exterior surface data for the lightweight panel production.

SHORT TIMESCALES
Mechanically, this specially crafted rally car is powered by a 2.0l turbo four (also developed by Prodrive) channelled to all four wheels via a five-speed sequential transmission and limited slip differentials.
One notable innovation is the disc brakes are mounted inboard – not inside the wheels to reduce unsprung mass and keep the center of gravity as close to the midline as possible to help pivot the machine around those tight rallycross courses. John Gaw, Prodrive Director commented : “In my time at Prodrive, I have never seen so much excitement among our staff about a new car. The design team have thought about every aspect and introduced ideas never before seen in motorsport.”
