Flexible Pens: What Car Designers Design When They’re Not Designing Cars
Car and Driver, September 2012.
Abstract/Summary
At auto shows, it’s always easy to spot the car designer among a gaggle of journalists. He’s the one whose suit and shoes don’t look like they’re straight from a resale shop. (Or, if they do, you know it was a very expensive resale shop.)
The notion that design is who you are, not just an occupation, also is reflected in designers’ nonautomotive work. Whether it’s industrial or consumer goods, fashion accessories or housewares, car designers exercise their talents on a variety of products.
